We're doomed

The ash cloud photographed by a dude in a plane
which can't fly near it but did anyway?

Did they really shut every single airport in the country yesterday cause of a volcano eruption in Iceland? I thought maybe I dreamt that after eating too much spicy tortillas. What on earth did they do that for? They're still closed I'm now hearing in my ear piece.

I can appreciate the dangers of a plane flying through such a dust cloud, but this thing was a good 1,200 miles from Heathrow when they took the decision to shut it down. How would it have affected flights from London to France or Spain or the Africas?

Also, the footage of the cloud, well..it's taken by a dude in a plane. If a plane can fly right near it so a chap can photograph it so we can all be sure a plane can't go near it, then surely planes can go near to it, no?

Did other countries close their airports? Did Holland and Denmark and France come to a standstill too? I'm gonna guess no. They're even saying it'll cause health problems now. It's the new swine flu. Miywans will die choking in the streets. Choking. In the streets.

This from the Health Protection Agency (how Orwellian):

"If people notice symptoms such as itchy or irritated eyes, runny nose, sore throat or dry cough, or if they notice a dusty haze in the air or can smell sulphur, rotten eggs, or a strong acidic smell, they may wish to limit their activities outdoors or return indoors. This advice of course does not apply if you're having lunch with John Prescott."
