God bless I say Gaaaaaaaaaard bless those Congressmen in the US Senate for rising above partisan politics, foregoing rhetorical posturing and thrashing out a deal that will save the world. God bless them all for putting politics on the back burning and focusing on the greater good, the bigger picture.
This was no time to be exploiting the biggest financial crisis in recent memory by refusing to sign up to the deal unless it was loaded chock full of pork, or poke depending on your accent. A US Senator holding the country to ransom and using this bailout plan in order to finance a NASCAR facility redevelopment in his state would have been immoral at a time like this. So thank the lord none of them did that. Oh no wait...they did.
It's so filled up with juicy incentives, "pork barrelled" if you will, you have to assume the only reason the honest to goodness US taxpayer isn't pouring gasoline over themselves and setting themselves ablaze in despair at the callous opportunism of these politicking dudes, is because they can't afford the price of gasoline.

Some of the new tax earmarks in this bill are quite bizarre, even more bizarre than the ones that were included in the original document the HofR dudes voted against last week. Wooden arrows for use by children! Huh? Which state has a shortage of wooden arrows for use by children?
New Tax earmarks:
- Film and television productions (California I reckon)
- Wooden arrows for use by children (Texas?)
- 6 page package of earmarks for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident (Alaska anyone?)
Tax earmark "extenders" - Stuff what was in the original bailout plan:
- Virgin Island and Peurto Rican rum (What in Gah's name has this got to do with Wall Street?)
- American Samoa (See above)
- Mine rescue equipment (In case bankers throw themselves down mines?)
- Indian tribes (Because of the collapse in the sub-prime wig-wam mortgages market?)
- Auto racing tracks (Nascar must live on)
- Wool research (Even Wales are getting in on the act)
Is it me or are the Republican party just using the final few months of Bush's Presidency to loot America? The game is up and they're filling their pockets before the final chukka. It's the old create a confusing mess, turn out the lights shout 'FIRE' and in the stampede for the exits have the silverwear away. They're masters at it. I'm kind of impressed by their ruthless unrelenting pursuit of money and unassuagable greed. I'd clean up in Luton this weekend if I was made of the same stuff.
